Hospitality is definitely not one of my innate gifts... I have made many of the excuses that she talks about in the first chapter. I felt like my home was too small, that I didn't know what to cook, I didn't have time... the list goes on. This book has inspired me to change my attitude and just start hosting people! This book called me out and reminded me that as believers, we are called to hospitality. It's not a choice. Just because it was a non-negotiable didn't mean that it was going to be an awful experience. Once I finally got over the hurdle of hosting a small get together with a few friends and family on the 4th of July, I realized, "Huh, I kinda like this!" This book is what got me started and helped take away some of the fears I had about hospitality.This is a must-read for every believer, young or experienced. We all need a little encouragement in areas we are weak in, and even areas of strength can use growth! This book does absolutely that: provide you with simple ideas to get you over the first hurdle, practical tips to hosting your first or 1,000th get-together, delightfully tasty recipes, hilarious and thoughtful party ideas, and encouragement from God the Father to bless and be blessed. There's a lot packed into this book and it's a book that I will read over and over again, as I learn to bless friends and strangers with God's hospitality and mine.

The author shares inspiring stories, tips of the trade, and some great collected recipes. It's a nice size book, so it's easy to go back and reference different chapters and recipes. It would make a great gift. Thanks for the inspiration!
Come To My Table is a super practical guide to the why and how of hospitality. She doesn't just tell us why we should be doing more of it (which she does, well), but she gives us simple, realistic ways to get started, even if we're busy, scared, tired - or a bit of all three.

What a delicious book Sue Donaldson has written! As a slightly hospitality-phobic person, her book has warmly encouraged me to open up my home more willingly to others. More importantly, Sue connects our earthly hospitality to God's Heavenly hospitality and what that means for each of us. These connections make sense and have helped me understand God's love for each one of us in new and fresh ways. A highly recommended read for any one who aspires to be more welcoming to others!
This book is as practical as it is inspiring. Not only does the author give us the "whys" of opening our homes, she nudges us gently with humor and real-people stories. The recipes are tried and true, and I especially love the "Theme Gatherings to Lift the Spirit" section. So clever and easy. This book makes a perfect gift for brides, hostesses, neighbors, family, women's groups...Who wouldn't want to sit down with a cuppa and a friend?
I know Sue and she is an excellent cook and hostess. I would recommend her book because it gives a lot of tips on hosting and some recipes. Bought some for my sisters and daughter-in-law for Christmas. I get Sue blog everyday and enjoy it to the most.

Love this book! It speaks to the heart of the woman who feels like she needs to clean the house, hire a chef and buy a new couch before inviting a friend over for coffee. There are some really easy and interesting recipes but I just read the book so I haven't tried them yet. I'm a non-cook, so I was more interested in the dialogue about why we host people in our homes and how to make it about loving and serving others and not about keeping up appearances. Really neat section in the back of the book that gives ideas for themed gatherings (check out the Recession Party and also Mug Night!).
